The season's denouement in my backyard 30 minutes from Vancouver BC. Little tour to the top of Mount Strachan behind Cypress Bowl ski area, closed for the season. Descent of locally-named Christmas Gully (360 meters/1200 feet) to Strachan Meadows and a short walk back to the parking lot outside the ski area. Nice way to spend an otherwise inglorious afternoon.

Approach from top of Sky Chair.

Top of gully, looking into the entrance.

Mid-section of gully below the constriction.

Bottom of gully at Strachan Meadows.

Howe Sound Crest trail.
The snow pack looks healthy.  What were the elevations where you started skinning and top ?

Nice photo of the old growth and your ski buddies.  ;)

Hey Zap,

Ski area base is 900 meters. The snowline is just below 1100 meters on Collins run, the approach. As soon as the run turns a corner away from facing south the snow depth goes to around 2 meters (6 feet). Probably on the summit it's 3 to 4 meters. The gully is continuous snow but then disappears once you're on the Howe Sound Crest trail in the deep forest.
