Brenda and I cancelled a planned weekend camp and  did a day tour to the area instead. Glad we did. Although coverage is excellent - we were able to start skinnig around 5000' - the snow was really lousy. Several inches of new sticky mush on the up and a softening punchy layer in and near the basin that we deemed not skiable - at least by us. Lots of wet slides on many aspects. Saw a group skiing the summit of Fortune into the basin then ski out off the arm down it's southeast face. We thought about checking whether they may have cleared a path down their exit route, decided to hang out in the basin and head out the way we came. Got few decent turns down a gully where the summer trail crosses, but mostly not that great on the down.
