I wanted to share this w/ you guys, in that it is unique. With 20 yrs Sierra BC experience, I thought our lowest elevation run @ 7,500', was at the bottom of Tioga Pass (east entrance to Yosemite Park) - this run does need a good snow year, however.
But I didnt realize there is another location that is a 2,500' gully that goes down to Convict lake, 7,500'. This has the same scenario as the Tioga run - a good snow year. Normally, one needs to be at the 9-10,000' elevation to access the consistent snowpack, in May.
Oh yaa, I skied the lower half, this aftn., and it was good corn. There somethin' special about makin' turns above water. laterrr
