Rain was what Vince and I experienced hiking from the trailhead up to Glacier Basin.  Climbers coming down refered to fluffy powder on the upper part of Inter Glacier, but the rain was rapidly soaking our motivation.  At about 5400ft we ran into continuous snow so we started skinning.

Once into Glacier Basin the rain stopped and we had nice visibility, but up above visibility was low, so we decided to yo-yo.  We skied north slopes in the lower portion of the basin with an inch or two of new on a consolidated base.  The new snow was wet and somewhat cohesive: on steeper slopes it sluffs readily.  It was still surprisingly fast and nice.  A nice day out, looking forward to the upcoming nice weather.
