April 25, 2010, Mt St Helens

Forgotten Saturday night dinner plans required a 3:30AM Sunday departure.  Arrived at Marblemount parking lot at 7:30 and departed by 8AM.  Continuous skinning was possible about 1/4-1/2 mile from parking lot and many adventurous skiers were able to ski back to the lot at days end.  A fair number of folks on the mountain - sunny skies, light wind and great views put smiles on the crowd!  Descended from summit rim around 1PM - top 2000 ft were perfect, middle 2000 a bit grabby and the runout was the fast sno-cone type of snow which certainly helped snowboards through the long flat sections.    The late season snow certainly helped keep this a fun late April-early May trip option.
