Given the rain forecast, I reluctantly joined my daughter on a trip to Stevens since her schedule is sadly inflexible. We were pleasantly surprised to spend five rain free hours mostly on groomed slopes with some stickiness below 4500'. She did get to ski her new Mannys and appreciated their performance on off piste wet slush, despite their light weight. It will be her backcountry quiver of one.

Always great to get a ski day with Jen, once again we positively experienced "you don't know if you don't go!"  Almost forgot, we heard a great performance by the bagpiping lift operator.

Nice.  Looks like the weather will be good enough on closing day.

agreed. stevens was good yesterday. we climbed a couple backcourt list peaks on 4/17 and on the way back into the ski area, were stopped by ski patrol. he asked if we had seen any avalanches, which we did below us, because there was an R1D2 release in bounds heading down from the ridge to the frontside near where the tye mill lift starts. crazy. never thought i'd see that there.
