Seeing the spectacular weather in Seattle on Tuesday Russ and I decided on a trip to Sauk Mountain. Wednesday turned out to be not nearly so nice. The road to the trailhead is blocked about 3/8 mile from the trailhead. After only about 200ft of snow the road and trail are snow free until ca. 5200ft. Then there are a few patches remaining. The east side bowl is still filled with snow and the skiing was nice down to Sauk Lake. Consolidated with good corn. The slopes around Bald Mountain are bare.
Most of the trip was fogged in, but we received a short, sunny window in which we made our descent and part of our re-ascent. Otherwise a nasty weather day.

Thanks for the report. You left a pair of nice-looking tracks up there, still showing up white against the dirty snow as of today. I like Sauk; it's reasonably close, not overcommitting, has good views and great wildflowers, and it holds good snow until at least early July.
