First time up this side of the Crystal Basin - stayed to the south side of the Basin and ended up on 6479 - skied down the back side to 5500 and was headed to the northern facing slopes on the other side of Union, but didn't like the looks of crossing below Crown Point.  Instead back to the top of 6479, off the N side (as many other had), then went around to the NW side and did that run - finished up by skiing the trees, north facing slope off the west ridge of 6479...it was an amazing run - most of the day was anywhere from 2" to 6" of snow over a firm crust...til the trees - 2-3 feet of pow pow and a most amazing run...but the beer called and we had to treat it as dessert.
Welcome to this side of the hill.
Looked like fun out there. I like that slope that you skied in the 2nd picture. Just an FYI that one has a propensity to load and slide, but it is a wonderful pitch with a great run out. Come back for some more another day Unclebo.

Thanks for the tip - we were looking at it all day and did a cut at the top but I could see that most avoided it.  We watched the far side of the valley all day and will come back for those long runs.
