Our magnificent group of seven found 4-12" of medium density new snow above a wetter firm base on NW to NE facing slopes above 4000'. Depending on aspect, we found some moderate sun and wind affect.
how was the stability??? Glad you found some sun.

"middle aged group of 7" probably a more accurate description.
Stability was generally good, a pocket of snow near the ridge crest under a cornice was released by repeated stomping.

Thanks for the scoop

Why are all your poles curved? Is this a new prototype.... the latest fad?
Glad you got some.

How old/young do you have to be before you qualify for "middle age" skier status? Wish I could have been there. Suffering under the sun in Oahu...

I was noticing that earlier today. I assume it's a combo of the motion of the pole and either the camera shutter or the order of the pixel scan creating a cool motion artifact. At the risk of violating the photo policy, here's an ancient Lartique photo that demonstrates a somewhat similar effect:

Looks like there are aspects to aging to look forward to!

Good thing you weren't skiing backwards uphill---the poles would have had a really useless curve.
