This was the last trip to Sasse Ridge for Jane and me for this season. Nice spring weather, warm in the tents, a good freeze overnight, and fairly good skiing from our high point (~5500 feet) to say 4500 feet. Below that the low snowpack has made the sking less than ideal. We were able to skin up right from the parking lot with only four or 5 short ski carries, but very soon one would have to expect to carry the skis to near the 2800 foot switchback. Here's a pic from our high point, showing Hawkins (partially obscured by the tree) South Ingalls, Fortune, Mt. Stuart, etc.

Bye bye snowpack -- glad you got some good trips in this year Larry.

Nice job Larry! Always good to hear your reports of Sasse.
I wonder what the access to Hawkins is like now?
That one always interests me every year, but I never have toured it.

We know it is spring when the snowpack is so rotten that you can't go two feet away from your tent before falling off the edge. Here is Larry, having misjudged the edge of his tent platform, with one leg off to China.
