I had never done this tour before but what awesome terrain. The plan was to climb up to sahale peak and then ski the arm back down but only made it to the pass. The picture describes it pretty well in that it was HOWLING. There was severe wind scouring leaving lots of exposed ice and pockets of wind pack. Made it up to the pass and checked out the arm briefly to find only more thick crust. Skiing back down found about 400' of wind blown "powder" that was quite fun. Other than that it was nasty. Skiied with four other people I met at the trailhead that were quite nice. We decided that skiing death crust just wasnt worth it. Cant wait for it to soften back up so I can go again. The road is snow free for about 1.5 miles (I think as I was in a daze going in at 7am).
