Needed to get some exercise and do some gear testing so headed to Hyak this morning despite the forecasted warmer temps and rain.

I haven't been to Hyak for a while and was surprised how little coverage there was on the lower part of the mountain.  We had to boot up above the start/base station of the old Keechelus chair and then we were able to skin up the face of the main run.  Once at the top we decided to take a run down the backside and there was pretty good coverage and skiing.  It was a little bit of soft spring like snow on top of firm base.

we skinned back up to the top and did some old school beacon practice burying beacons and searching and when we finished up then skied down the main run.  Snow was a little 'sticky' at the top but if you gained enough speed turns were not too tough.

All in all it was nice to get out and tour/ski even if it was a little rainy and couldn't ski all the way down to the parking lot.
