A great day to be in the mountains.  Just a few quick facts for those interested. start time was 7am. continuous snow begins at ~2950', and I was able to skin from there to the rim.  Snow ranged from refrozen soft crust  to about 7200', and then was wind packed powder to the rim.  Light to moderate east wind from the trees up to the rim, and then calm at the rim (don't ask how that happened, maybe a higher power at work).  I started my descent at about 12:30, and most of the soft crust had softened into early corn.  Stability was fine during the time i was there.  I can't speak for later in the afternoon.  I skied to the east of the climbing route, through the upper bowls (swift glacier), and then into  the half pipe (the drainage that is the east  branch of swift creek).  Back at the parking lot at 1:20.
I think I know the answer based on your elev. reference, but did you park at Marblemount?
Thanks

Heading up tomorrow, thanks for the report.  Nice pics.
