I had the honor of being invited to one of the great birthday parties of all time.
In celebration of friend and neighbor Bob's 40th, eight of us joined our magnificent guides, Larry Goldie and Jeff Ward of North Cascade Mountain Guides, at the yurt for four days of bluebird and cold snow touring.
The ship and it's rock star pilot, Seamus, were nice enough to drop us on the Tamarack summit for a free run down to the yurt.  After settling in a bit, we embarked on a full day of touring.
There were concerns about a buried surface hoar that has started to cause problems in southern B.C. and which kept us from some sweet looking steeps, but the boot-top pow and sunshine more than made up for that.
I can't say enough about the North Cascades as a touring destination, having hut tripped exclusively in British Columbia.  Easy to get to, epic terrain, impeccable service and guiding.
Thanks to Bob and Larina.  Post some more pics?
