The Eastern Plains of Montana have received over 100% of their normal snowfall so far this season...so what better than an isolated range of mountains sticking up out of it.  If it wasn't for the four hour drive from any town of consequence and a 7 mile approach slog this bowl would have been a money place to hang out for a while.  But we were already tired of tents and cold...and just for fun a 6 inch 'blizzard' swept in to keep things interesting.  The Snowy Mountains kept about 2 feet at 5k but bucked up at 6k to about 5 feet.  Due to heavy snowfall we didn't go higher than 7 which was the treeline in this bowl.  Above that winds were doing all kinds of fun loading and being unfamiliar with the terrain in limited visibility we stayed low.  But it would have been epic.  At 7k there was 2-3 feet of blower pow...and all around us the 6k - 8k chutes sported 30 degree wide open avi chutes.  But not today.  not today.
