Despite (or perhaps because of?) the forecast for 6000'(?) freezing level in the afternoon, we got up early and headed for Crystal.  It snowed for the six hours we were there, raining when we returned to the car.  Snow seemed 'right side up', 4-6" powder on top of occasional (wind?) crusts depending on aspect with increasingly dense powder deeper.  Below 5800' the powder was fairly dense.  Much better skiing than we feared we might find.  Another successful day (especially since my daughter could join us!)
Am I to assume that the Bows survived their maiden voyage?

Nice picture....looks like  delicious stuff to me..

We were over at Mazama Ridge - similar snow results, though when we did a shovel shear test, Q23, the break was below a wet crust.  Had thought about Crystal.
