A few pics from a day trip to Cloudburst. Not as touchy avy conditions as the day before in the Coquihalla. Used the groomed Chance Creek road to the pass then followed the snowmobile track over the pass to High Falls Creek. Intersected a road on the High Falls side (possibly Br 260) and used it for a short distance then traversed through ugly breakable crust to Br 270. From near the top of Br 270 and around 1150 m in the mature timber the snow quality improved and was good all the way to the summit.

Most types of snow were encountered: windpack above tree line, powder in the sub-alpine, breakable crust in the forest, and wet spring-like snow on the road. It's a pretty good route when the avalanche hazard is relatively high.

Northwest ridge of Cloudburst opposite and Pelion Mountain in back.

Looking down on Squamish and Sky Pilot Mountain in back.

Cloudburst summit.

Logging road and slash near 1000 meters.
Looks like a nice tour, way to pick out a good route!  It sounds like the good-snow line is about 1000-ft lower up there then down in Central WA.  That's not fair!

Nice shot of Pelion.
