I snuck away from the family for a couple hours of lift service this morning with plans on being back by noon.  Well, I'm back by noon.

Ski patrol gave us the lowdown on the crappy conditions while we stood in the lift line which opened at 10 AM.  1 inch of breakable crust over everything except the thin band of groomed run down Debbies.  I woefully doubted the dire warnings from the Ski Patrol and still took one ride up.  The conditions sucked even on the groomed.  0-1 of snow on top of ice.

similar conditions on Skyline Ridge across the highway from Stevens Pass. About 5 inches of fluff, then 1 inch rain crust, with 2 inches of new on top of the rain crust. The good news is it was snowing hard when I left at 1:30. A few more inches and the skiing should be good.

How did it bond,  did the the crust break in plates or sheets?
it must have been  better than the in laws.

I couldn't get anything to move but didn't venture too far off the skin track for the decent and didn't dig a pit.

... retreated to Central this morning. The new freezing rain crust was strong enough there that I did not break thru it while skating. Telemetry says 0.58 inch of precip between 5 & 10 PM tonight (Friday) with a flat or shrinkng base.
