Dec 22, 2009, East of East

Mix of fog and sun hiking up Bullion Basin Trail.  Headed south toward Bullion and the summit and west side fogged in with sun on beautiful looking eastern slopes, so locked in and rode down into Union Crk.  Really nice 4-8" light on top of heavy, wet, crust.  No instability seen anywhere.  Climbed back up to the saddle and then the ridge north and west all the way up to East proper and no one had been on the summit.  Snow's a little deeper on the NE side of East; cut a couple cornices and nothing slid.  Sun followed me nicely and was out on the SW side of East for another nice ride down to the trail.  The trail and road suck, but worth the effort and should hold for a few days, so thought I'd throw this up.  Merry Christmas!
