This was a Cascade Backcountry patrol day. Mostly patrolling to make sure no one else was dumb enough to go out in the rain. Some of the wettest, heaviest snow I've ever skied, but a good time was had by all despite constant misty rain through most of the day. Yodelin still needs several feet to be really good -- lots of Christmas trees and big boulder fields to navigate.
Nonetheless, a fine (if soggy) day in the hills.

Stupid enough to go ski there in the rain today (Dec. 20th). Slight rain crust all the way to the top. Most of the steeper old growth sections had crusty tree bomb debris with some patches of more skiable wet snow in-between. Light rain early in the day gave way to heavier rain by early afternoon as we departed, thoroughly drenched. No pictures. Ready for more snow...
Hey Marcus, we just MIST you! Was down the road a bit at a more likely named 'rainy' pass.
Nice pit profile. Our soggy day sounds simular except we experianced a lot of whoomphing while traveling. Found the same TG, with a good layer of facets under the crust. 4'000 ish, west facing.

Hey! I thought I saw your car in the Yodelin lot, but it turned out to be a couple of other splitboarders. I figured you'd be one of the ones who was dumb enough to be out there :)
We had only a little whoomphing, but the 15" layer moved easily and could be a real problem once it firms up, if that crust doesn't decompose a bit.
Spent yesterday patrolling for the Lakeside Ski Club race at Cabin Creek. Man, those skate skiers cover a lot of ground fast.
