After a leisure morning Don came by at 9:30 and we were at the trailhead by 11.  The road is in good shape and is pretty much snow free.  We debated ski boots vs tennies, chose ski boots, wrong call, it was dry for +800 and it was only possible to skin after about +1500.

We went to the end of the summer trail then cramponed up a steeper section to what appears to be Point 6045 on the Green Trails map.  Making provision to keep enough daylight on the 18th shortest day of the year, we headed down from there.  Icy crust near the top, nice turns for about 1000' in the middle, then all out survival skiing in the woods.

We got down to about 3300', milking diminishing snow for everything it was worth, then booted down 800'.  Anyone who cared a bit more about preserving their ski bottoms would have booted from higher.  Back at the car at 5.

Awesome day, Don took the pix, hopefully he will post a link.
It was great to meet you Travertine.  Glad we made the last minute arrangements work.
[Gear notes: axe and crampons for the steep final bit,  and I agree - shoes would have been a better choice for the lower trail.">
