Ken S and I made our way up the snowshoe path to Source Lake this morning for our first tour of the year. We just had to get out onto the snow and the great schedule Gods aligned.
It was snowing a fair amount throughout the morning. There was probably 2-3" of accumulation and made for some classic (if not harrowing) dust on crust conditions. We saw many snowshoers but only two skiers at Source Lake and another two on their way up the cat track on our descent. We were on a tight schedule so to get a few turns that were not on a snowshoe path, we skinned to the slope directly above the lake to get a dozen or so turns. The echoing sound of Ken's edges on the snow sounded like a .22 caliber rifle fire. We had no expectations for great skiing so any skiing was great.

A friend and I did exactly the same thing -- good chance we were the other 2 skiers you saw on your way down. Entertaining conditions, to say the least, but it beats cleaning the garage :-)
