Me, articcat2 and Mike (not sure of TAY handle) toured towards Red Mtn this morning despite our worry of solid ice for the duration of the trip.  There was definitely plenty of ice, but also some carveable crust that yielded ~1k of good turns.

Upper portion was better than expected, the bottoms section through the basin/trees was nothing short of horrible.

Sun was out, and it was great to ski with some new people.

First photo is mike, and the second one is me.
Fun trip, good exercise, and semi-cooperative snow. Stopped a few hundred vertical feet short of Red Mountain summit. Good decision, as there weren't many good turns to be earned up higher. ( Snowpack was very thin. )

As Skier8484 mentions, snow down low was more fun, but the snow beneath the trees was rather nightmarish. Nice to ski with you and ArcticCat2. Thanks to ArcticCat2 and Skier8484 for putting in an excellent boot-track up the steep south face and allowing me to enjoy the steep climb.
