A gorgeous day in the Olympics! What everyone has said about the views from Mount Townsend is very true.
Road 27 and 28 are driveable to the Mount Townsend TH. The road in had about 6" of snow. There is no snow on the trail until about 5000'. I skinned up from about 5200' to near the top. The top is bare and wind scoured. The snow was perfect spring-like snow, about an inch of soft on top of a supportable crust. After a thousand vertical feet of turns i had a huge grin on my face and everything was good in the world, even though i still had to hike out in tele boots! :)
