November 14, 2009, Mount Hood, Tilly Jane

Headed up to Tilly Jane on east side of Hood on Saturday.  Fresh snow on Hwy 35 and at Parkdale.  Probably at least 6 inches at Tilly Jane trailhead, and at least a foot of new at Tilly Jane hut.  Snow above treeline was windblown break-able crust.  Even so, there was not a hint of wind... and only a handful of other climbers.  Ski down was sketchy above treeline; sweet between treeline and hut; super sweet below hut; and Mr Toad's Wild Road for the last half mile.. with creek crossing, plus jutting rocks and roots with kung fu grip!  Last year's burn greatly increased the the coverage and fun below the hut.  Snow probably won't last long... hope the dumpage continues!!
