Jill and I started this little adventure on April 3. We are heading for the eastern Sierras for some spring touring but we accumalated numerous free lift passes and 2 for 1 vouchers. So on our way to CA we did some spring skiing at Stevens, Mission, White Pass, Timberline, Bachelor and Mt. Ashland. With our ski legs intact for old folks, we stopped by Lake Tahoe for some touring. Prolateriat Bowl is located off highway 431 near Mt. Rose in Nevada. Tahoe Meadows is on the south side of the highway and Prolateriat Bowl is on the north side. It's really nice to drive to 8600 feet and put your skins on and start climbing. It's only 1300 feet to the top of the bowl and the descent is south facing and provides ideal corn conditions. Just beyond the bowl is the Hourglass which is visible from Reno. A steep desent which is protected from the sun. So many options. Time to head further south.
