A few hours to kill before work, I chased the storm to the pass hoping to XC ski Rd 9070 and the Windy Acres area.

Was greeted by winter driving conditions at the pass, and snow the entire road up.  Stopped driving around 3300', at the rocky blasted switchback, and started skiing up in +/- 3" of wet snow in 10th Mountains and Excursions.  It snowed harder and harder and I was absolutely delighted by +/- 6" of soft snow at Windy Pass.  As a result was able to climb up and take a "run" down a few hundred feet of the Mt Catherine trail in ankle deep snow, only dinging around three solid objects.  Tooled around Windy Acres on the FS roads, and generally had a wonderful outing around the now snowy mountains in my home ground.

Driving home I realized that depending on how Nov treats us, Aug and Sept might be the only months of this year I wasn't able to ski in or from Windy.

Fun while it lasts...
