Decker Mtn is just outside the ski bounds of Blackcomb.  We ascended to East Col from the top of the T-bar (takes 45 min or so).  From there its a quick ski down to the base of Decker.  While conditions inbounds were sloppy; conditions high (abv 7,000) in the bc were great.  We encountered perfect packed-powder conditions on the northern slopes and with no fear of kicking down stuff even on the steepest slopes.  Southern exposures were crusty up to 11am, but softened up nicely after that.  However, by 3:30pm, it was getting sloppy on southern exposures already at 7,500 ft.  The bc shop in Whistler is called Escape Route which is located in the village marketplace square with the grocery store and McDonalds.  They have a nice map with local bc routes marked. Route: East Col to NW face of Decker (twice), then down the SE ridge past, NOT down yipes, the Finger Chutes, and back around to the base of 7th Heaven chair.  Party: Eli, Karel and Ema
Sounds like a Great tour.  Will be picking up that map the next trip to Whistler.
So did you score some sort of "one ride, bc lift ticket" or is the regular lift ticket just the price of access to the cool tours?

Ron - the ski areas offer "backcountry tickets" good for one ride from base to the top of the mountain.  You need to go inside to customer service and show them your beacon, shovel, probe and skins (at least we were asked to show these), and fill out a form about your plans.  The tickets are approx 30 CDN.

The Baldwin map is the nicest ski map I've seen outside Europe (the Swiss make some ski maps that are beautiful).  It has route descriptions on the back.  You might be able to order it before going to better plan trips.  There was a thread on here a while back about where to buy it.
