What Are You Packing? was created by ~Link~
Since I'm yet to lose my virginity to what is deemed as true "back country,"  I'd like to get some input regarding just what to pack when preparing for back country excursions.  Beginning with short day trips to multiple-day tours; what is everyone packing?  Aside from a few micro-brews, what are the essentials? Should I tell her that I love her...or...? ;)

Any information for a newbie would be greatly appreciated.

Do a search on T-Tips as there has been a good list assembled there.

If you want to travel in style, bring a rectangle of closed cell foam (enough for your ass and back only) on ANY trip out. 4 or 5 moves with your shovel at lunch/water/smoke break and you have yourself a comfy, insulated chair (I guess shovel and lunch/water/smoke also have to be on the list).

I always bring a search function too, as that always seems to be an incredibly popular item listed when people ask this question.

Have a good season and enjoy the backcountry, true or not.
