View of Unicorn Peak from "The Bench"

Four of us from the Washington Ski Touring Club (http://www.wstc.org) were serving on Nordic Patrol this weekend -- after reseting the trail markers from Paradise to Reflection lakes on Saturday we decided that the snow was too mushy for enjoyable turns below the Castle and Pinnacle and opted to tour out the Steven's Canyon road past Lake Louise and up the trail to "The Bench"

After staying Saturday night in the Longmire house provided by the park service for Nordic Patrol, we check the trail markers on the marked Nisqually loop trail and then headed up to the top of Panorama Point.  A well named spot.  While eatng lunch we heard a rumble from the mountain and looked up to see the aftermath of an ice cliff collapse on the Nisqually Ice cliff.  We then enjoyed the corn snow skiing down Skyline ridge to Mazama ridge and then down to Fourth Crossing -- where the NPS crew was busy clearing the Paradise valley road with a couple of bulldozers, a snow blower and a Piston bully.   Driving the road below Narada Falls we spied a fox just sort of hanging out at one of the pull outs.

Nice Pics, Randy.
Great weather over the weekend, eh?
We saw a fox about the same size at the Canyon Rim turnout Sunday morning... a red one, that refused to leave just because we stopped there.

I patrolled several weeks ago.  The Rangers got a complaint then about that fox begging for food at Narada.  Supposedly they were going to nab the critter and re-locate it.
