April 4, 2004, Silver Peak Basin

This north-facing area just S of the Snoqualmie Pass cross-country trail system was in pretty good shape for some lightweight fishscale travel.  My route was Central Lodge/top of quad/Grand J/Nordic Pass/Ollalie then Silver to the ridge.  The west face of Silver's N Ridge was looking mighty good, but being solo, I thought the better of it.  Throughout, the snow was firmer than I expected from the weather forecast, with an obvious hard freeze down to 3000 feet present in the AM.  The descents were tame, smooth and creamy.  There is still enough snow to get through Nordic Pass without creek issues, but I don't think that is going to last too much longer.
