After a sweet trip to the Fryingpan Glacier on Monday-Tuesday, Andrew and I headed to the southside of Mt. Rainier to check out the remnants of the Muir snowfield. We hit the trail by 6 am and it was clear the snow was pretty thin. The scenery didn't dissapoint though.

After climbing for about 2000 feet, we were able to switch to skinning - the first time on our Rainier adventure we skinned. We ended up climbing to just below Anvil Rock, where we lounged and took a rest break and snapped a few photos.  The snow up higher on the Muir was really cupped and didn't warrant anymore uphill travel. The ride down from below Anvil was pretty good, given the late conditions. We were able to link turns most of the way back down to Paradise.

The flowers were out in the meadows and the weather was great. This tour would have been sweet a few months ago, but was still good even this late in the year .
