Leaving for a 30-day trip to Europe doesn't leave a lot of time for the monthly fix. Arose at 4 AM, got to Alpy lot at 6:15, on trail at 6:20. The Source Lake Alluvial Fan showed me all of her glory by 7 AM. One shot to the lake and out; all of 250 vert. However, the life of a streak is like an extra family member, so we are ALL happy now...
Everything is now packed, and off to the airport for 4:30 PM check-in, and 7 PM departure. This is one of the closest shaves of my 11-plus years, but all is well in my mountain mind!
If one needs a sure easy shot, there's about a 10-day (max) window to get 'er done at the Source...

Way to "rack" up the streak instead of "murder"ing it, so you can stay in the "posse".
August will be my challenge this summer: family coming in late July, then off to China with the wife (without skis or snow!) for 8/10-29. I am taking my rock shoes for Hong Kong.... ;)

There's pretty much always a way. I spent almost all of May in Europe and scored a day skiing in the Pyrenees, a great way to get May turns. Depending on where in Europe you are going, it still might be an option ...
Have a great trip Greg!
Isn't a Alluvial a soft soil, gravel mixed with clay in old river valleys?
At least that's what I get reading soils reports.
So you skied on a fan of dirt at Source Lake?
Way to get after it!
