Went out for a quickie tour out to Source Lake again this weekend. Good cloud cover kept everything cool; the snow was firm but not icy, suncupped but still buttery. However, the route from the car to Source Lake is getting pretty gnarly in spots, and I wouldn't be surprised if by next weekend you might be booting it. Amazing what a few days will do.
I guess I shoulda tried calling you when we decided at the last minute to go to Snoqualmie. We went to Silver Peak and found about the same snow conditions you described (except I didn't notice you mentioning the dreaded pollen---if you escaped that you chose much more wisely than us!)
