March 21, 2004, Swauk Pass, Haney Meadow Loop

WSTC trip. Followed marked ski trail XC15 through woods and clearcuts to the 5980 point about 1 mile east of Diamond Head.   Wonderful views of Stuart and the Enchantments and well as Rainer and Glacier Peak.  Got a few turns on mushy corn in southeast facing open sploes leading to the Haney Meadows Campground.  From there we headed north a little to drop in to the Tronsen creek drainage and ski some of the open north facing slopes, which were quite enjoyable.  Unfortunately the snow is melting out fast, particularly below 4500ft, so next weekend this loop will certainly have some bare stretches on the lower portions.
