Chuck R., Onyx the dog, and myself had been itching to summit Pilchuck agaun, as it had been a few years. We chose Memorial Day weekend, both having the time to do it and expecting good weather. Got to the road gate at 7:00 AM, and hit the hiking by 7:15. After 4 miles of uphill on boots, finally arrived at the snow. We expected very oat-ish conditions, as we knew the temps had not really provided for a freeze the night before. Our suspicions were confirmed, but not everywhere. Started from the Pilchuck trailhead at 9:45, and summited at 11:30. As always, the views from the fire shack were spectacular! Every mountain in sight was another lkine in the dream book...

The ski down was a mix of beautiful corn, mush, slop, mushy slop, sloppy mush, and sloppy mushy corn. Back to the car by 2:30 PM, and then a corn dog and a chocolate malted shake at Ike's Drive-In in Granite Falls. Given the snow conditions and the sky conditions, a great day was had by all!
