The south foehn wind has made for very high freezing levels and therefore slushy snow. We tried to find somewhere high enough for corn, about 1.5 hr drive from Innsbruck. Fluelpass is around 7500' and our summit was 10300', the ski down was two inch corn for the first 1000', then deeper, heavier stuff to the car. Will have to go higher to find better skiing.
On our return to town, we found the road closed for avalanche control, we had failed to notice this posted. Luckily we did not have to wait the six hours for the road to reopen, at the local gas station Alfred learned of their route through some fields to get around the gate.
