- looks like a lot of rpts. up your guys' way !  this rpt. is at Tioga Pass (East entrance into Yosemite Nat'l Park). The pass opens to the gate (12 miles)  May 1st. It then opens completely around Mem. Day.
The Power plant run involves a car shuttle. You park one at the bottom (7,500 ft.) and then proceed to 9,500 ft., across the road from Tioga Pass Resort (TPR). TPR is a winter backcountry place for the Eastern Sierra.
From 9,500 ft., you pack your gear and hike along the Ellery Lake ridge to the Plateau. The Plateau is at 11,000 ft. On this day, as like the past month down here the winds on the ridges have been about  50 mph. The skis get pulled to the leeward side making for some extra work. But with totally blue skies it is always worth it !
The couloirs up there are lined with granite, making for an awesome setting. The snow was good up top, as some previous riders knocked down the top layer from the week before's storm.
Down below, the snow was still fresh. So not da kine corn. But it didn't matter after the epic top section. Sorry, no pics as I use the library and you can't send pics. Enjoy the turns.

The chutes up there are always amazing as the granite is vertical making for an awesome setting. The snow in the chutes area was nice corn as some riders had been in there before,as we did receive a foot to a foot and a half the week before. The bottom section is a huge amphitheatre emptying to a creek (snow).  The snow down below was still fresh as well, so it was mush. But after the descent up top in didn't matter. Just another day in the Sierra!
      p.s. - someday I'll get a new camera.
