Deception Peak-Skiing with mountain goats
Skied off the NW Face
Asc 6740 10km
6.27 dur
Andy Traslin
I attempted to climb Mt.Davidson, but got a little burnt from previous days.So I turned and around and descended the cruxy slope besides the Phylis Engine.Just cruising along down the slope,When all of a sudden I see a big white fur ball charging In front of me,my heart just dropped and freaked me out I stopped.I looked below me And saw 4 beady eyes staring at me.I took a few photos. Then boom eight mountain goats Went roaring like a freight train up the rock slope.I had to follow them, by the time I saw them, They were already up a 40 degree couloir. The fastest ski mountaineers Ive ever seen. They probably Climbed and skied everything around here. After that, I traversed over to Deception Peak and finished One of the fun nest ski lines Ive done, steep from the summit and 3500 feet of firm crust fall line right to the lake.On the hike out don't get sucked into skiing down by the river, you'll waist a lot of time and might even have to do a river crossing twice.
