After skiing with Gary, Jan et al at steeple rock, we met Dan at the switchback trailhead and he talked me into joining him, promising a short easy trip. 1500 vf of steep climbing through soggy knee plus deep snow, some classic Olympic choss and vegetative belays later we reached the ridgetop just southwest of the summit of Mt Angeles. The main chute was chunky with wet slide debris, so we climbed and skied the nice aesthetic line to lookers left of the main gully. Dan had his eye on it for some time. From the top we decided that the western approach around the backside would've been a better solution, although less adventurous. This chute is pretty straightforward without the feeder chutes the main gully has making the avalanche hazard much less complex. Might be temped to try again on a pow day. The ski down was very nice smooth slushy cornish snow, and worth every minute of the climb up. Sorry no pictures, but a generic photo of Mt Angeles from the east will show the line if someone wants to post it (Gary?).

Sounds like you guys had a great climb and ski. Here are the routes we skied on Saturday. The first image is the route on Mt Angeles that Greg and Dan skied in the afternoon. The second is the route our group skied off of Steeple Rock earlier in the day. The blue line is our climbing route, the red is our ski route. This line continued down into the valley through glades to elev. 4000' Tyler (Chmnyboy) and his friend Les rode several of the chutes off Steeple Rock in the center of the picture.
