I have been dying to write this TR for seven months now since my skis and I were abruptly parted in a disastrous bouldering comp accident.
Today, ski and chica were reunited for the first time on a downhill slope! Yes, over the months I have tried various forms of snowsliding to include, one-ski teleturns at the local highschool during our epic lowland snow event this winter, a random assortment of sledding excursions and a few feeble attempts at turn/side-step but today, I skied for real--teleturns and all--hugging the Hyak side of Silver Fir chair on the lovely forgiving corn. I was expecting some mush, but a steady wind kept the upper slope surprisingly cool until 11 and the flatter shaded "hiway" continuing to the base held until noon without becoming grabby.
What a great day this is! Breaking an ankle is the last thing I would tout as being a positive experience, but in many ways it has become just that giving me more time with my children, a chance to finish my long overdue bachelors degree, establish a business that allows me the freedom to get out on a whim, discover new friends and true friends, refocus on my goals and aspirations in life and fall in love all over again with my greatest passion, skiing.
I am certainly not 100% recovered and may never drop a knee quite as deep as before, but maybe that's a good thing. Having taken such an unanticipated long break and now engaged in a cautious return (no 60 degree slopes or 30 foot drops for me anytime soon!) I think this is an excellent opportunity to break all those bad habits I kept fostering before and come back an even stronger skier than ever. Better free up your schedule "neil" now that your back in town, cause I'm ready to go. 
Alright, and lastly, I know a TR just isn't a TR without pics, but it was a solo day on a benign slope so there just wasn't much to document but the smile: I'm in love all over again!

Welcome back!
It's surprising what one can accomplish when all the energies put into recreation are channeled into more "productive" pursuits... Haha, but it's time to redefine productive again.

Yeah Holly! That smile pic speaks volumes! So glad you were able to get out and begin harvesting again! No more bouldering, but as for climbing, that's another story...
