April 24, 2009, Crooked Couloir

Little late for a post about a trip on Friday but I thought I would do an update on the condition of this ski. I left the Alpental  parking lot at 10:45 in hopes that the warm temps would soften things up a  bit on the Crooked. The tour up the Phantom was strait forward and hot. It was slush on crust. The views from the summit that day were amazing. I dropped in just south of the summit on the NE slop and it was a little icy and wind blown for the first 9 or so turns then wind packed all the way down to the exit where it became vey icy again. The exit is a little thin and due to the ice I had to side slip a section. I skied the Phantom around 1:30 and it had turned to 8 inches of heavy wet death slush.
