Well ,Dave Ken and I had about 3 or 4 destinations in mind.
Granite west - No we didn't want carry skis that far or at all.
Snoqualomie Summitt via cave ridge- Nope, socked in.
OK lets go east for another 3 pr 4 possibilities all involving long drives and long approaches. nope!
Sometimes great choices end up being blown away by what's doable and easy. Instead of spending the time in the car we got on the snow right away.
We ended up skinning up the road through Silver fir area from the ski patrol lot. Then skiing down the northren loop of Cathrine loop now closed and somewhat rough from machine traffic. Skinned up on hard crust through Olallie meadows ,light wind and lightly snowing. On up into the basin for sardine lunch on the knoll just below the summit. This tour has some easy skiing which suited the crusty conditions. Even found a few powder spots and softened corn on the way back. UPs and downs gave us about 3000' and maybe 6-7 mi. The length gave us plenty of time to work on our crust skiing at speed. We put the skins on only once on the return trip and finished skiing down through silver fir in soft snow. Good day for us given the conditons. Finishing up the lift skiing tomorrow at White pass with Laurie and Dorothea! After that it's touring corn !

Nearly ended up going there today until I saw Paradise was clear.

White pass report in lift served section but in a nutshell it was fantastic.
Still, do not qestion your choice . Like it's all good and we're looking at a couple months of better yet.
