April 4/09-Shipyard's Pinner Chute

Skied S Chute of sub peak Crown Mtn
Ascended 7000 feet
April 4/09

I have been staring at this chute for years from work as I drive in circles around and around. I figured I got to check this out and ski it, as I doubt anyone has. I started with a hike up the BCMC and skinned to the Hanes pass. Surprisingly great powder skiing on the NW slope dropping into Hanes valley on a steep tree run to the valley bottom. From here a very steep skin track up through the trees with warming temperatures. Dropping into two gullies. Finally gaining the w ridge of Crown mtn. From here I went up and  down the ridge steep skinning down climbing and boot packing and gained the sub peak of Crown mtn. I had a little lunch of pork tenderloin and potato's and waited for the clouds to clear. It was tough to find the entrance because it started with trees and wasn't obvious. Luckily I could refer to my photo from work I took in the city and this gave me a better vantage point. I dropped in and temps were rising and sloughing
snow from trees and rocks. Cloud covered and I dropped in steep and tight. I skied  through the gully that was narrow at the top and tried to avoid the exposure, finally it opened up. I then traversed and contoured
around into Crown creek. Then the brutal skin up to below little goat peak.
