Short report- Scott K and I skinned up the Muir snowfield on Saturday, Feb 28th.  The Rainier Mountain Forecast suggested a few days of light winds, several consecutive 1 to 4 inch snow days, followed by partly sunny conditions on Saturday, cloudy conditions on Sunday.

This all sounded good, so we opted for Saturday.

Skinned up through fog, snow and light winds to about 8K, then limited visibility to the huts.  We were a little concerned about slides beneath Pan Point.  We stayed to the east/hikers right up the main Pan Pt face. Nothing major happened.

Forecasters had accurately predicted light winds all the way and this prediction held true.  Translation-very nice, untracked fast powder from the huts to about 8.5K, variable and crusted snow from 8.5K to the parking lot.

We saw very few rocks, very few drifts all the way down.  Other than very poor visibility, we had a fun ski down.  Should produce nice spring conditions later this year.
Good to hear what the coverage is up there, Tony.
Thanks.
