Tried to find a place to get in some turns understanding the the stability. We decided on Kendall as a second choice since we would have needed a 4WD to get in or out of the snow park at exit 63.

We started near exit 53. We took a few runs though the trees working our way North.  Once at the end of the clear cut we worked our way higher through the woods.  They were great small runs followed  by hard moving climbing in the deep powder.

Dug a pit at about 4000 ft in an open section with  sparse trees. Saw a few layers of varying  consistency a 18 inches down but they were well bonded.   Nothing went in the compression test.   New snow, 6 - 8 inches, was sitting not well bonded to the heavier snow beneath.

We were going to go back through the trees but decided it was fine to venture into the clear cut if we were careful.  After a few turns my partner knocked a small slab loose on an unassuming slope 6 inches in depth 10 ft wide.  It ran about 25 ft.   If the snow persists and there is no bonding it will be sketchy in the days to come.

Wish we had a few more people in our group to break trail but all in all it was a good day of exploration and some fine turns.
