HIGH avalanche forecast today. with the freezing level right at the the pass around 3,000ft it was wet and heavy right off the highway. big graupel was falling down low. it got lighter up high obviously but it was still enough to create a somewhat cohesive slab. there was a wicked wind up high blowing from the northwest. my shovel sheer at 4,200 ft on a northwest slope broke right when i stuck the shovel in. STV Q2.
i posted a video of the conditions - http://coachingendurance.com/blog/2009/03/commonwealth-creek-and-kendall-ridge.shtml
