The prediction was for 3 to 5 inches of snow
But telemetry reported only a dusting.
We all agreed that the backcountry might blow,
followed by a good bit of cussing.
How bad could conditions really be?
Aspect and elevation at length was discussed.
Cries of I wanted to ski,
Were answered by grumbles of death crust.
On an open slope looking at a wind blasted Hood
Theres a west facing shot at about 5000 feet.
Here we found a supportive crust that was good,
And new fluffy snow, at least 3 inches deep.
Hooray for the backcountry!
Damn the resort.
Theres always good skiing
Despite the weather report.
