The prediction was for 3 to 5 inches of snow But telemetry reported only a dusting. We all agreed that the backcountry might blow, followed by a good bit of cussing.
How bad could conditions really be? Aspect and elevation at length was discussed. Cries of “I wanted to ski,” Were answered by grumbles of death crust.
On an open slope looking at a wind blasted Hood There’s a west facing shot at about 5000 feet. Here we found a supportive crust that was good, And new fluffy snow, at least 3 inches deep.
Hooray for the backcountry! Damn the resort. There’s always good skiing Despite the weather report.
