March 8, 2009, Hinter Daunkopf (Stubai)

Start at 640AM for Stubai Gletscher ski area, delayed for avalanche control by helicopter, off in blue sky weather at 8.  The wind began picking up after an hour and the snow showed the effect unfortunately.  Most of us reached the top in howling wind around noon after the 5000' gain,  one lapped the boottop "powder" below instead.  The drive home around 230PM was interrupted an hour for avalance concerns, Michael took this opportunity to enjoy a little gemutlichkeit and germknoedel.  Wolfi and Silas waited instead for kaiserschmarm at a restaurant in the valley, where we were offered a nice free schnapsel thanks to a big tip for the waiter.  No Eurotour without a stop for dessert.
